Serbia:Floods -Situation(as of 22 May 2014)

Situation in most affected areas as of 22 May. Peak of flood wave expected in Belgrade on 23rd.Map shows surface water including floods mapped by NASA MODIS satellite for 10 day period up to 21 May 2014. Impacts of rain have been:- Flooding continues to be widespread and peaks are still moving downstream.- Several cities severely affected by flooding and landslide risk; now reducing in number, closed roads.- Major high capacity and other pumping operations in several locations ongoing although now reducing in number.- Landslides have occurred extensively south of the Sava, with collapsed buildings, closed roads.- Critical infrastructure has been compromised including industrial sites near river and excavation mines.- Minor perceived fear of mines and other ordnance.Agricultural losses in flooding area widespread.
